A lot of people's idea of Doggy Day Care is dogs bouncing off the walls all day, clamouring for attention and squabbling over toys. This environment would be extremely detrimental to a dog, in fact anyone's, mental and physical health; imagine being in a state of high alert all day? Not only is that exhausting, it's enough to tip you over the edge and potentially make errors of judgement. We aim to be the exact opposite. We encourage calm by being calm. Encourage lazy, low energy play as opposed zoomies and chase (plenty of this to be had on the forest walks!). In the afternoons you'll find a dozen dozing dogs ...

Low value treats are hidden to sniff out when the right group of dogs is in the unit. Sniffing is one of their most favorite, healthy activities.

Criteria ...

We say no to as many dogs as we say yes to. If we feel the day care environment would be mentally and or physically unsuitable for your dog we will tell you - for their well being, the current cohort's well being and our stress levels (!) we only accept dogs whom we feel will

Case Studies

When Bow first came to day care he hadn't had the opportunity to interact with many dogs; pandemics, illness and living in a secluded hamlet all meant his life skills were lacking and he showed some fear. Here at Oh MY Dog we don't consider a dog that appears to lose its mind with glee every time it meets another dog to be an accurate description of 'Socialised' - in fact it is those that can deftly and politely navigate away from dogs with whom they have no interest in playing with that are winning!
